Induction and Mentoring Program

  Observation Cycle Reminder

We are almost to the end of the first semester of the school year!  Time flies when you are having fun, I guess.  Reminder to mentors and new teachers:  For first year teachers, the first observation cycle should be completed by mid-November.   All aspects (pre-conference, observation, data collection form completed, and reflecting conference completed) by November 15.  That needs to be entered on the website for verification.  Payment of mentor stipends will not be completed to the districts until all observations in a district are completed.  We would like to make payment to districts before Christmas, but that depends on when the work is completed.  This year payments will look different.  We will pay $425 for each of the three coaching cycles for those in the first year (FY2010) and then the fourth semester will be paid at the rate of $225.  Those working with second year teachers will receive the $500 in the fall and nothing in the spring.  Mentor stipends are $1500 over the two years, so all will receive the same amount, just paid out differently.  The third and final observation for second year teachers should also be completed by November 15, 2009.  The pay change was decided by the Leadership Team for the grant because we found a problem with those working in the second year and no payment the last semester.

New Teacher Workshops 2009 -2010

All new teachers have registered for the communication workshop on either October 7, 2009 or October 13, 2009.  Remember that we have adjusted the delivery of the new teacher workshops and the other two will be offered during the teacher's second year.  This was at the recommendation of the beginning teachers on the Leadership Team.  Those dates will be set sometime in the spring and notification will be sent to the teachers who are affected by this change.

  New Website activation

All first year teachers and their mentors should use the url in the email from Timsweb to activate their accounts.  Once activated, mentors and new teachers can log in with the temporary password (username is email address) and then change the password.  You will be asked to complete demographics.  Please email me if you have any problems, being specific as to what you were trying to do and what problem you encountered.  This is a new website and we hope that we have most of the bugs worked out, but you never know.  Email me at rgardner@roe45.org.  Once you are at the regular log in, book mark the site for easy access.  You can access the site from wherever you have Internet access.  I think you will like the site.

If you entered contacts on the old site, you will need to transfer them.  There isn't a way we can do that and you have information we would not have access to for those contacts.  You should have all transferred by the end of the year.
