Induction and Mentoring Program
Happy New 2012!
One semester has been completed. For second year teachers that means one more semester and they will have completed the requirements to move from Initial to Standard Certificate once they have completed four years of teaching experience. Here is a reminder of the 3rd quarter requirements for first- and second-year teachers. These should be completed and entered into Timsweb no later than March 15.
First-Year Teachers
- First formal obvservation cycle (3 parts and should be done by end of February)
- Written reflection #3
- 9 contact hours between mentor and new teacher
Second-Year Teachers
- Third and final formal observation cycle
- Written reflection #7
- 9 contact hours between mentor and new teacher
Announcement
On January 18, from 10 - 2 PM there will be a workshop for mentors and new teachers sponsored by the Illinois New Teacher Consortium (INTC) to introduce mentors and new teachers on the use of the online ICE 21 Illinois Continuum of Teacher Development to document professional growth. The workshop will be held at the IFT offices at 4 Executive Drive, Fairview Heights, IL. The location is behind Lotta Watta Creek and the Holiday Inn. Substitute reimbursement , CPDUs and lunch will be provided by INTC. New protocol for ICE 21 analysis of student work will also be shared. Registration forms will be sent to you. Districts will have to cover mileage costs. Vicki Hensley and Rosie Gardner will conduct the workshops. Please register as soon as possible.
