PROJECT LASER

PROJECT LASER
The Monroe/Randolph Regional Office of Education administers a free and confidential literacy program for adults in the Monroe/Randolph County area.  Project LASER is available to adults who need improvement in their basic reading or math skills.

Project LASER offers one-on-one tutoring for adults with less than a 9th grade reading level.
Qualifying adults receive:

  • Testing to determine grade level
  • One-on-one tutoring with an adult volunteer
  • Tutoring in basic reading, math or both
  • Convenient tutoring site
  • Free study materials

Anyone interested in learning more about the program may contact  Lynn Langrehr at (618) 826-5471.

The Project LASER coordinator is actively seeking new adult volunteers to help out with this program.  Tutors will be asked to spend at least one - two hours a week with their adult learner.  Tutoring hours are set at the convenience of both adult learner and tutor.
Volunteer tutors receive:

  • Instruction and training materials
  • Continued guidance from a local coordinator
  • Choice of service area
  • Choice of tutoring site
  • Books and materials for instruction provided by the Monroe/Randolph ROE

Those interested in becoming an adult volunteer for Project LASER may contact Lynn Langrehr at (618) 826-5471.

Project LASER is a grant program funded through the Secretary of State/State Librarian Jess White's office.
