PROJECT LASER
The Monroe/Randolph Regional Office of Education administers a free and confidential literacy program for adults in the Monroe/Randolph County area. Project LASER is available to adults who need improvement in their basic reading or math skills.
Project LASER offers one-on-one tutoring for adults with less than a 9th grade reading level.
Qualifying adults receive:
- Testing to determine grade level
- One-on-one tutoring with an adult volunteer
- Tutoring in basic reading, math or both
- Convenient tutoring site
- Free study materials

The Project LASER coordinator is actively seeking new adult volunteers to help out with this program. Tutors will be asked to spend at least one - two hours a week with their adult learner. Tutoring hours are set at the convenience of both adult learner and tutor.
Volunteer tutors receive:
- Instruction and training materials
- Continued guidance from a local coordinator
- Choice of service area
- Choice of tutoring site
- Books and materials for instruction provided by the Monroe/Randolph ROE
